Garage Door Repair

You will need to schedule a garage door repair anytime you notice your garage door is not working properly. Even if it is a small issue, we suggest having a professional perform a garage door repair as soon as possible so you can avoid costly repairs in the future. A few signs that you need a garage door repair are: 

• Your garage door won’t open.
• Your garage door won’t close
• You have loose or fallen cables. 
• Your garage door is making grinding or squeaking noises. 
• There is a 3-4” gap between your garage door spring’s coils. 
• Your garage door is opening at an angle.
• When you try to open your garage door, it suddenly slams down. 
• Your garage door opens halfway and suddenly stops or reverses.

A door balance test is a test performed on your garage door to determine if your garage door springs are supporting its weight evenly. During a door balance test, we will disconnect your garage from the garage door opener, and manually lift it off the ground. If your garage door is well balanced, then it will stay in place, supported entirely by the garage door springs at shoulder, waist, and knee height. If your garage door slams shut, then we will need to perform a garage door repair to ensure your springs are properly balanced so your door can operate safely. This test should only be done by garage door experts to ensure the safety of everyone around.  

When you have a damaged garage door panel, you do not have to replace the entire garage door. We can perform what is called a garage door section replacement. During your garage door panel replacement, we will take the damaged panel and replace it with the exact door piece. As long as your garage door is still being produced by the manufacturer, we can replace the damaged panel. 

The most common reason for a garage door to make grinding noises is too much friction. Friction can build up within your garage door when parts are rubbing against each other. This is why we recommend lubricating all the moving parts of your garage door routinely. If parts grind against each other for too long, they will eventually become weaker and need to be replaced. If you hear grinding noises coming from your garage, you should call your local garage door company as soon as possible.
